Define Your Summer Season

Summer is a time of fun and sun, a parade of colors in beauty, fashion, summer salads and favorite fruits. This summer will be like no other summer with social distancing due to COVID-19. When it comes to defining 'you' and the summer season, it is an individual choice. Some people love the vibrant colors that summer brings and will display it in their makeup, fashion style and food choices. Others love the simple and soft muted neutral tones that blend into any season.

NARS Cosmetics Afterglow Collection

Watermelon pinks for the lips and shades of peach and coral for the eyes and cheeks are some of the popular summer makeup trends. I especially love the NARS Cosmetics summer palettes for lips, eyes and cheeks. Remember less is more. Let your skin breathe! Moisturizer and sunscreen for every skin tone is key. If you wear foundation, light coverage with sheer, semi-matte, satin finish is great in humid weather. A tinted moisturizer and a concealer are also great options for coverage. Make sure to lightly powder T-zone areas to control shine. A matte face with a matte bronzer, (which can also be used as an eye or lip color) may just be the best summer makeup look with a neutral lip!

The fashion pantone color chart for spring to summer defines an array of vibrant colors. What is in fashion for summer? Choose a roomy square toe heel, platform shoe, strap, or thong-heeled sandals. The chunky gold chain necklace is back. Colorful bracelets and earrings are all the go. Multi-color sundresses, jumpsuits, and a new twist on denims. Micro to bucket handbags are all in. Whatever your style, wear it without a second thought!

Summer veggie salad

Salads and summer fruits are my favorite healthy eats this time of year. Make a change from lettuce! A mixture of baby kale and spinach is my go-to salad base. Add fresh Brussel sprouts, corn, shaved carrots, mushrooms, chopped red onions, fresh garlic and ginger, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds. Top it off with a few shrimp or grilled salmon if you choose. Create your own salad dressing with Dijon mustard and balsamic vinegar! A healthy dessert or snack of peaches, mango, pineapple, grapes, and apples or watermelon (not my favorite) can be very filling. Snack on unsalted pistachios for a late-night snack.

Whatever you define as your summer season, no explanation needed just define it, own it, be safe and enjoy it! #summerhealthy #summerfashion #summermakeup #summerbeauty
